Riverby Estate 2007 Chardonnay
Pale lemon in colour, this chardonnay has a powerful, rich nose exhibiting ripe stone fruit characters, peaches and nectarines,
hints of caramel and butterscotch, and lovely subtle vanillin notes. On the palate it is rich and vibrant with an attractive baguetty,
mealy complexity. It is elegant and spicy with peaches and cream smoothness and citrus and cashew flavours. Impeccable acid balance,
beautifully integrated oak and restrained alcohol give lovely texture and balance.
This wine has tremendous concentration and impressive length with the promise of even more complexity as it evolves and develops.

A stunning cool climate Chardonnay. Yellow straw colour in the glass with a brilliant appearance. Aromas display ripe tropical fruit, some custard apple and nectarine hints - these follow through on the palate. The wine fills the mouth and has full flavour and displays some minerality, spice and almond meal. There is very good acid balance and fruit/oak integration resulting in a beautifully balanced 'linear' wine of great finesse. At the correct serving temperature, I suggest about 10-12 degrees Celsius, the wine is seamless and satisfying, rolling it around the palate it is hard to resist. Maturation in high quality French oak adds the spicy, almond meal flavours and a creamy aftertaste.

The 2006 Silverwood Marque D' Argent Chardonnay is a limited release wine from the 2006 vintage restricted to 50 cases. It is produced from our single vineyard estate on the Mornington Peninsula planted in 1997. The fruit was hand harvested and gently whole cluster pressed in small batches before it was left to settle overnight. The partially clarified juice was then transferred in barrels for fermentation. Quality French oak barrels were used from the Vosges and Allier regions. The best barrels were selected at 10 months from our Estate Chardonnay range then reserved for a further 8 months maturation before bottling as this limited release. Care was taken to match malolactic fermentation and lees contact to ensure balance and to ensure primary fruit and acid were not over-powered by secondary winemaking characters.
This wine has a brilliant, vibrant appearance and a pale straw colour. The nose displays white peach and stone fruits with floral and citrus notes. The palate is elegant and balanced with well integrated fruit and oak. Leaner stone fruit characters with some custard apple evident on the palate. The structure is seamless with finesse and great length.
It is a wine of finesse, with leaner tighter fruit and good oak integration. This wine will age for 2-5 years and develop further complexity and character.
